Abstract

The California Department of Fish and Game and the State Water Quality Control Board (through Regional Board No. 9 - San Diego) entered into an agreement 1 July 1970, whereby Department biologist-divers would resurvey the marine environment off the western shore of Point Lorna, San Diego County, California. The investigation was to consist of a comparison of present conditions to those found in 1965 (Turner, Ebert and Given, 1968). This information would then be used by the Board to evaluate environmental changes (if any) which have occurred following the operation of the Point Loma ocean outfall. Determinations to be made at each station included, but were not limited to: (i) the number and diversity of plant and animal life; (ii) substrate characteristics; and (iii) physical conditions of the water. The Board reimbursed the Department for part of the expenses incurred during the course of this investigation.
